Two hungry teams clash, only one will
advance.
Titans survived
amazing season
At the start of the season, the Titans were 2-3 and apparently
going nowhere in the playoff race. But the team turned things around in
a massive way. They went on to win the next four games against good defensive
teams and that earned them a playoff spot. But as fast as their four game
win streak happened, they lost their last three games each coming to the hands
of the other three playoff teams. It was truly a turbulent season for this
team but that was the past and they are living in the present. Manager Mickey
Patel must get his team’s defense in ready in order to beat a team like Badmash.
Shreed Sista will have to bring his power game if the Titans want a chance
to advance into the World Series.
Badmash eyes N.I.B.L.’s
biggest prize
The second half of the Badmash’s season, mostly free from
tension, hasn't been without its challenges, some real, some perceived. And
the # 1 seed have responded well for the most part, asserting them each time
they believed it was the prudent course of action. Their biggest challenge
in the regular season was for them to prove to themselves that they could
beat the Ikonz. They finally did that in their second meeting against them
late in the season. Now the time has come when Badmash -- and all the other
survivors of the preliminary 12 -- must twist their dials to the hilt. It’s
up to first year manager Ali Raja to bring his team together to make a serious
run at a N.I.B.L. championship. Idrees Tily, Saif Kaleem and others need
to follow his lead. They have the right ingredients to breakthrough but they
simply have to go out and do it now.
Why the Titans can win: The Titans looked to
be down and out in July by losing to each of the playoff teams but it is a
new season. Outfielder Shreed Sista tumultuous season of lack of power can
be salvaged with a good performance in the playoffs. Their defense can only
get better from the regular season and if it does, it should win them a game
here or there against their opponent and you never know. As the # 4 seed
and losing all three games to Badmash during the regular season, they have
nothing to lose in this series. By playing loose and having no pressure on
them can be a good thing for this team.
Why Badmash can win: Steamrolling through the
N.I.B.L, Badmash won the most games (10) this season out of any team and are
the best team in the league during the regular season. They were also 3-0
against the Titans during the regular season. Badmash’s offense is spear
headed by their three headed monster in shortstop Ali Raja, first baseman
Saif Kaleem and center fielder Idrees Tily have plenty of pop in their bats.
Their defense is above average and can halt any good offense their opponent
displays. After last season’s playoff exit, they are hungry and are ready
to take the next step.
